Vanessa tells Rachael Ray that she lived in a shelter for two weeks to prepare for her new movie, Gimme Shelter, in which she plays a pregnant homeless teen.
“For Gimme Shelter, my character ends up at this pregnant, homeless teen shelter that’s actually ran in New Jersey by a woman and I actually went and stayed in the shelter for two weeks before I started filming, so I mean like, I lived there with all the girls, with all the kids, so I think that it’s really interesting because you find so much more about yourself,” Vanessa explains to Rachael.
Vanessa ditched her usual glam look for the film, and reveals that she even snipped her own coiffe for the role. “I actually cut my own hair for this movie, I did that to myself, yes I did,” she tells Rachael, adding that she and co-star Rosario Dawson “both look so messed up in this movie.”
It wasn’t all movie talk, as Vanessa dished on who she’s excited to see at this weekend’s Grammys: “I mean I’m really excited to see Adele come back, considering she’s been taking her rest and she’s so amazing, I’m such a big fan of hers. She really is, her voice is just so stunning, so I’m excited to see her come back, yeah, working it!”
She’s been going nonstop as of late, and yesterday ( February 8 ) Vanessa Hudgens was spotted out and about all over New York City.
The “High School Musical” cutie paid a visit to SiriusXM Studios in Manhattan to chat about her brand new movie “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”
During the course of the day, Miss Hudgens also attended the grand opening of the Galeria Melissa Flagship Store where she hammed it up for the paparazzi.
And at the end of the day, Vanessa finished up her NYC rounds at the amfAR New York Gala to kick off Fall 2012 Fashion Week at Cipriani Wall Street, with an after party at The Double Seven.
Kicking off what’s set to be a month-long promotional trek, Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Hutcherson hit the red carpet for the world premiere of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday (January 15).
Held at the Jam Factory Cinema, the cute, young co-stars received quite the warm Land Down Under welcome while set to continue forth with their “Journey 2″ tour with a premiere event in Sydney on Tuesday, January 17th.
Hitting theaters on February 10th, the action/adventure flick was directed by Brad Peyton and also stars Dwanye Johnson, Luis Guzman and Kristin Davis.
Available in 3D, the movie begins finding a young adventurist named Sean (played by Hutcherson) receiving a code of distress signal from a mysterious island.
Sean, who cannot help himself but to set out for the locale, is joined by his new stepfather (Johnson) after he’s unable to talk his stepson out of the dangerous outing.
